Job Title: Workday Payroll Business Analyst

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – 1-2 days onsite)

Client: State of GA

Experience: 12+ years required

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Business Analyst to join our team, supporting the State of GA’s human capital management (HCM) initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring over 12 years of business analysis experience with a focus on optimizing the Workday platform, particularly within the Payroll modules. You will play a critical role in collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, implement solutions, and provide continuous support for Workday configurations. You will also mentor junior analysts and ensure smooth integration of systems into the organization’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Workday Configuration and Optimization:

• Configure and optimize Workday Payroll modules to meet business needs, ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing.

Requirements Gathering:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and prioritize business requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Process Improvement:

• Analyze existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend solutions to streamline operations, enhance system functionality, and reduce costs.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Develop custom reports and dashboards within Workday to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.

Testing and Validation:

• Create and execute test plans to validate system configurations and ensure the changes meet business requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project deliverables.

System Implementation:

• Support the design, testing, and implementation of new systems or process changes, ensuring seamless integration with existing operations.

Documentation:

• Produce detailed functional specifications, process flow diagrams, and other documentation to support both current projects and future system maintenance.

Mentorship:

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices for solving complex business problems.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.

Experience:

• 12+ years of experience in business analysis, payroll systems, or related fields, with a proven track record of successful project delivery and process optimization.

Skills & Competencies:

• Advanced proficiency in business analysis methodologies (e.g., SWOT analysis, BPMN, etc.).
• Strong experience in data analysis and reporting, utilizing tools such as Excel, SQL, and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Familiarity with process improvement frameworks (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Agile).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Workday Certifications:

• Workday Payroll certification preferred.

Experience with Integration Tools:

• Experience with data migration and integration tools such as Workday Studio, EIBs, or APIs.

Industry Experience:

• Experience working in HR or finance teams is an advantage.

Professional Certifications:

• Certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) are preferred.

ERP/CRM Experience:

• Experience with ERP or CRM system implementations (e.g., SAP, Salesforce) is a plus.
