As we continue to expand, we are seeking a talented and experienced Azure Synapse Data Engineer/Architect to join our team on a long-term contract basis.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Azure Synapse Data Engineer/Architect with a strong background in data architecture, engineering, and analytics. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions on the Azure Synapse platform to support our data-driven decision-making processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, and IT, to ensure our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and data storage solutions using Azure Synapse.
  • Architect and implement scalable data solutions that meet the company's analytical and operational needs.
  • Ensure stringent data privacy and security practices are integrated into all data architecture and engineering efforts, adhering to industry standards and regulations, especially within the healthcare sector.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, design data models, and develop data integration strategies.
  • Implement and maintain robust data governance frameworks to ensure compliance with data privacy laws, such as HIPAA, and healthcare-specific regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of data solutions, including troubleshooting and optimizing queries, data pipelines, and storage systems.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, processes, privacy protocols, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers and other team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Azure Synapse, data engineering, data architecture, and data privacy regulations to continually improve our data infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Azure Synapse Data Engineer or Architect, preferably within the healthcare or medical device industry.
  • Expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, including Data Warehousing, Pipelines, and SQL Pools.
  • Strong proficiency in data modeling, ETL development, and data integration strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of data privacy practices and regulations, particularly in healthcare, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other Azure data services.
  • Solid understanding of database management, data security, and data governance principles.
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, and other relevant programming languages.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
