Job Title – Senior Engineer (SQL Server) (WF) 
Job Location – Remote
Visa â€“ USC/GC/GC EAD/H1B/H4 EAD
Clearance Requests â€“ NA
Job Duration – 12+ months contract
In this role, you will:
  • Design and automate methods to migrate SQL Server databases
  • Lead migration activities to move SQL Server application databases between data centers
  • Analyze complex inventory meta data and plan database migrations
  • Lead database management activities including designing highly complex logical and physical databases
  • Lead highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts
  • Consult with and advise management and multiple clients on high impact data or database management issues, influencing strategic direction
  • Provide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technology
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Perform the planning, research, design, implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databases
  • Provide technical consultation and support in the development of automation solutions
  • Translate requirements into code for new or existing solutions and projects
  • Work closely with existing database development staff to complete tasks
  • Work closely with other teams to understand and document requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot and validate data query results
  • Ability to work with a team as well as be a self-starter
  • Developing original, intricate solutions and simplifying when feasible to improve maintainability
  • Participate in system and user acceptance testing tasks as assigned
  • Assure quality, security, and compliance requirements are met
  • Participate in an on-call rotation if needed
 
Required:
  • 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 7+ years of database design and administration experience
  • 5+ years of MS SQL Server experience
  • 2+ years of PowerShell scripting experience
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts, querying, requirements gathering, and/or decision support tools

Desired:
  • Experience using JIRA with Agile methodologies for tracking user stories or backlogs
  • Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and Kanban
  • Experience with Public Cloud Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure SQL Database
  • Experience using GitHub for version control and collaboration
  • Experience using Python for automation
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • 5+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing process solutions for automation
  • 2+ years of working with any type of automation framework (System Center Orchestrator, Ansible, HP Operations Orchestrator / HP Server Automation, VMware, vRealize)
  • The capability to write and interpret advanced SQL Queries
  • Passion for developing automated management of a large database environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of automation and engineering release development
  • Strong understanding of data loading and data cleansing principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of test-driven solutions development
  • Technical working knowledge of networking concepts and storage system architectures
