Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Sr. SAP Payroll Functional Consultant with a strong focus on US Payroll to join our team for a long-term contract position. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP HR Payroll configuration for the US market, specifically around US Payroll regulations, tax rules, deductions, and compliance. This role requires excellent communication skills to interact with business stakeholders and configure SAP Payroll systems that meet the client’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
· US Payroll Configuration & Implementation: Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP US Payroll modules. Set up payroll schemas, wage types, tax configurations, and other payroll-specific functions to ensure compliance with US federal and state tax regulations, deductions, and benefits.
· Payroll Process Optimization: Analyze current business processes related to payroll and recommend solutions to streamline and enhance efficiency in the US Payroll system. Ensure payroll calculations, tax withholdings, and deductions are processed accurately according to US laws.
· System Testing & Quality Assurance: Oversee unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) specific to US Payroll functionalities, ensuring that the system correctly calculates and processes US payroll data, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
· Stakeholder Management & Training: Act as the main point of contact between the client and the project team. Ensure that US Payroll requirements are properly understood and implemented. Deliver training to end-users on SAP US Payroll processes and functionalities, ensuring effective adoption.
· Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Provide expert support for troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to US Payroll, ensuring smooth and timely payroll processing for clients. Work closely with clients to address payroll-related concerns and ensure timely issue resolution.
· Regulatory Compliance & Updates: Stay updated with changes in US Payroll tax laws and regulations at both federal and state levels. Ensure SAP Payroll configurations are compliant with these changes, including year-end processing, tax updates, and reporting.
· Customization & Enhancements: Provide recommendations for customizations and enhancements to meet specific US Payroll requirements. Collaborate with the technical team to develop functional specifications for any necessary modifications.
· Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation on US Payroll configurations, testing procedures, and user training materials. Create reports and documentation for audits, tax filings, and compliance reviews.
· Leadership & Guidance: Lead the implementation of SAP US Payroll and provide functional expertise, guidance, and support to team members. Ensure that the implementation is completed on time, meets business requirements, and delivers high-quality results.
· Best Practices & Industry Expertise: Provide detailed knowledge of US Payroll best practices and continuously look for opportunities to improve payroll processes and enhance the client’s overall business performance.
Qualifications:
· Experience: At least 5-7 years of hands-on experience in SAP US Payroll functional configuration, with a strong focus on US tax rules, deductions, and compliance requirements.
· SAP Expertise: Solid understanding of SAP Payroll modules, particularly US Payroll, including tax configuration, wage types, benefits, and third-party interfaces. Knowledge of SAP HR and SAP SuccessFactors integration is a plus.
· Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact with business teams, gather US Payroll requirements, and translate them into functional specifications for the SAP system.
· Problem-Solving Abilities: Proven ability to analyze complex US Payroll issues and recommend solutions to meet client needs and ensure payroll compliance.
· Client-Facing Experience: Experience in managing client relationships, understanding US Payroll needs, and delivering successful implementations on time and within scope.
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field. SAP certification in US Payroll is highly desirable.
Additional Skills:
· Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local tax rules and payroll regulations, including garnishments, deductions, and benefits.
· Experience with SAP Payroll reporting tools such as Ad Hoc Reporting, SAP Query, and Payroll Control Center (PCC).
· Ability to create functional specifications for custom development and enhancements related to US Payroll.
· Experience in year-end processing, W-2 generation, and other US payroll compliance reports.
