***This requisition's current PO is funded through 6/30/25, so use that date in the RTR. Contract end date is dependent on the final schedule and projected needs. Historically additional funding should then last a year and occur from 7/1/25-6/30/26.***
***Start date for this position is as soon as possible pending a compliant PATCH.***
***The individual will need to physically report onsite in order for first day processing, possible badging and to pick up commonwealth-issued equipment.***
***For this hybrid work position the individual will work remote from home four days a week and will come to the office one day a week (staff normally comes in on Wednesdays).***
The Technical Architect Specialist (TAS2 A4 SC2) is the expert on Windows Server administration, along with the responsibility to ensure the availability of the products for the application teams and end users. Will also be responsible for evaluating, preparing, and recommending technical solutions, as well as troubleshooting complex problems with a wide variety of applications. The Technical Architect Specialist position requires significant expert experience and skills in the products being supported. The Technical Architect Specialist will usually also have significant experience in the operating environment(s) (e.g., HP/UX, Windows, Linux, etc.) on which the product is implemented. The Technical Architect Specialist is responsible for collaborating with System Specialists, Programmers and vendors to ensure and enhance the use of the product and effect migration to new versions of a product.
Role Description:
• Responsible for functioning as the Technical SME on an enterprise-wide system.
• Responsible for implementations of products/services that involve significant Commonwealth and federal oversight.
• Provides direct technical expertise to Executive applications involving national security.
• Delivers support and design for industry specific applications that require integration with statewide systems or applications.

• May function as a niche SME.
• Demonstrates expertise in teaching/conveying technical and/or functional courses/concepts.
• Develops appropriate work programs and use to effectively schedule tasks/assignments.
• Identifies improvements to project standards to achieve high quality services/products.
• Actively contributes as an expert or actual designer.
• Provides accurate estimates for design and programming efforts for system changes and enhancements.
• Confirms that technical architecture will support all changes required by product enhancements.
• Anticipates, identifies, tracks, and resolves issues and risks affecting own work and work of the Application Team.
• Develops contingency plans as necessary.
• Applies specific expertise to ensure that products meet defined customer objectives.
• Anticipates and resolve issues specific to the team.
• Determines time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Determines server sizing and configuration, printer configuration, bandwidth analysis and capacity planning.
• Monitor the availability of updates/upgrades to server hardware, tests and installs updates/upgrades. (SCCM/SCOM)
• Superior interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work effectively in a team environment. High level of proficiency in effective problem solving required.
• Identifies and tracks issues, risks, and action items.
• Participates in product design reviews to verify that design meets quality standards and functional/technical requirements.
• Performs impact analyses on production fixes and enhancements to establish priorities.
• Provides basic product support and provide accurate and complete answers to detailed product questions in a timely manner.
• Provides effective on-site product support as needed.
• Accurately sets severity of identified defects.
• Provides input to training and / or documentation materials regarding latest technical and functional design changes.
