Job Title: Application Specialist – EpicCare Beaker Laboratory

Job Summary:

The Application Specialist will be responsible for the development and rollout of the EpicCare Clinical Documentation, Clinical Case Management, and Stork system/application across various facilities. The specialist will lead and coordinate design, build, testing, and go-live activities for the Inpatient Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This role will involve liaising with end users, third parties, and Epic staff to ensure the system meets the organization’s business needs and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary contact for EpicCare Inpatient EMR through all phases of the system development lifecycle.
• Attend required training/certification programs to gain foundational system knowledge and competency.
• Act as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff.
• Analyze current and future workflows, data collection, and technical requirements associated with Epic software.
• Make decisions regarding application configuration and prioritize system changes based on business needs.
• Develop and execute testing scenarios to ensure system functionality and integration with other systems.
• Troubleshoot issues and questions from end users, collaborating with report writers to ensure appropriate reporting.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of inpatient clinical care and associated workflows.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize, resolve conflicts, and manage a project plan.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop, document, and ensure adherence to technical standards.
• Familiarity with customer requirements and their impact on application functionality.

Experience:

• Inpatient EMR experience, including order entry, clinical documentation, medication administration, clinical pathways, and case management.
• Knowledge of physician order entry and integration with ancillary systems (e.g., Radiology, Laboratory) is beneficial but not required.
• Operational experience in a clinical setting is a plus.

Education:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.

Travel:

• Willingness to travel up to 25% during certain project phases, including training, testing, and go-live support.

Certification Requirements:

• Epic Beaker CP Certification is required.
• Epic Beaker AP Certification is optional.
