Location: Nashville, TN (Onsite)
Duration: 6 months
Tax Terms: Contract-to-Hire (C2H)
Work Authorization: USC, GC, GCEAD
End-Client: Nashville Government (Working with Prime Vendor)
Position Description:
The GIS Technician will serve as a key GIS advisor with Metro’s Information Technology Services GIS Division. This position is dedicated to providing analytical, technical, and administrative support for Metro’s Enterprise GIS system with a focus on the Metro Fire Department. As the GIS liaison to the Fire Department, the selected candidate will perform complex spatial analysis tasks and work closely with end-users to incorporate GIS tools, troubleshoot issues, and improve system efficiency. This technical role requires a strong understanding of GIS concepts, database application design, and Esri platforms.
Scope of Work:
- Conduct detailed use-case analysis of business functions to identify areas for GIS toolset improvement.
- Develop and define GIS application and geospatial data model requirements for the Fire Department, collaborating with end users to address technical issues.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to senior leadership, demonstrating the impact of GIS solutions on organizational goals and decision-making.
- Troubleshoot and resolve end-user issues related to the GIS system, offering guidance on problem resolution and improvements.
- Perform spatial analysis (vector and raster datasets) and geospatial data management, ensuring the quality control of data and attribute information.
- Develop technical documentation (data specifications, user requirements, and procedures) and conduct in-house training on system usage and project progress.
- Configure Esri solutions within ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, utilizing tools like Field Maps and Survey 123 to enhance operational processes.
- Prepare maps showcasing spatial data and reports utilizing data visualizations to inform leadership.
- Manage and maintain ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online data, ensuring seamless publishing and management of spatial datasets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in GIS or related field from an accredited institution.
- 4-8 years of hands-on experience in GIS, with advanced knowledge of Esri systems (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Proven experience in performing complex spatial analysis and geospatial data management using ESRI platforms.
- Ability to perform independent judgment and apply specialized knowledge in GIS applications and database design principles.
- Experience analyzing Fire Department or Public Safety datasets is a plus.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Proficiency in configuring ArcGIS Solutions, including web apps and dashboards.
- Expertise in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and GIS database management (including relational data models and schemas).
- Familiarity with industry-standard quality control practices such as data reviewer, attribute rules, geodatabase versioning, geoprocessing tools, and queries.
- Experience with Python scripting, Tableau, AllSource, or Esri Solutions for Public Safety is a plus.
