Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Boston, MA/Onsite
Must be local in Boston, MA area and able to be on-site from time to time in Needham, MA.
Contract – 6 months (with possible extension)
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 3 years focusing on AWS IoT.
· Proficient in designing and implementing cloud architectures, specifically on AWS.
· Strong understanding of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions.
· Deep knowledge of AWS IoT Core, IoT Greengrass, IoT Analytics, and Device Management.
· Familiarity with IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, and WebSocket.
· Understanding of edge computing concepts and solutions.
· Expertise in designing data storage solutions using AWS services
· Experience with AWS services like S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, and CloudFormation.
· Strong knowledge of and experience with the following services
o AWS IoT Core, AWS IoT Greengrass, AWS IoT Analytics, AWS IoT Device Management, AWS IoT Events, AWS IoT SiteWise, AWS IoT Things Graph, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon RDS, Amazon Kinesis (Streams, Firehose, Analytics), AWS Pinpoint, Amazon SNS (Simple Notification Service), Amazon SQS (Simple Queue Service), AWS CloudFormation, AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS Secrets Manager, Amazon API Gateway, AWS AppSync, AWS Step Functions, AWS Glue, AWS QuickSight, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Kinesis, etc.
· Experience with data pipelines and analytics using AWS IoT Analytics, Kinesis, etc.
· Strong knowledge of IoT security best practices, including device provisioning, authentication, and encryption.
· Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA – optional).
· Skills in monitoring and optimizing cloud platform performance, including auto-scaling, load balancing, and failover mechanisms.
· Experience in cost optimization for AWS services.
· Proven experience in migrating IoT platforms from third-party services (e.g., Ayla Networks) to AWS.
· Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, IT, QA).
· Experience in providing technical leadership and mentoring.
· Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible).
· AI/ML Integration (Preferred):
· Experience with integrating AI/ML services into IoT environments.
· Certifications (any or all of the following; architect preferred):
o AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
o AWS Certified Developer,
o AWS Certified Security Specialist
o AWS Certified Data Specialist
