Project Description:
As an Engineer on the Inspired Discovery team, you will deliver digital customer experiences across Best Buy that boost excitement for new and noteworthy products and drive stickier, long-lasting engagement. We believe that discovery can happen at any point in the customer journey, whether it’s during an unplanned moment, in the afterglow of a recent purchase, or when a customer is ready to upgrade their tech. We lean into emerging tech (e.g. generative AI), exclusive content, and personalization to amplify the most important and relevant stories in consumer technology.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
Basic qualifications:
• 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
• 2+ years of development experience in building components using React JS and node.js
• 3+ years of development experience in building components using React Native
• 3+ years of development experience using any of the following:
o GraphQL, Git, NPM, Yarn, Babel, Webpack, Typescript, Jest, Mocha, Chai, Cypress, React Query, Tan Stack, Apollo Client, React Hooks, Fetch API, Lighthouse, Fastify, Koa, Chrome dev tools
• Experience designing and leading the development of large features within a team
• Experience with agile processes such as TDD, Paired Programming, CI/CD and lead by example with a quality mindset.
Preferred qualifications:
• 6+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
• Ability to build and optimize web applications and platforms in a cloud environment with a solid understanding of system design
• Ability to collaborate with product managers
• Experience designing and building GraphQL queries and integration with front end components
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to triage and manage complex, production issues
