Job Description of Role
Power BI Architect
About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Power BI Architect to join our team, focusing on migrating our existing Tableau-based solutions to Power BI. This role requires a deep understanding of both Tableau and Power BI, as well as expertise in designing robust and scalable business intelligence architectures on the Azure Data Platform.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in data integration, architecture design, and dashboard development, with a strong emphasis on performance optimization. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their business needs and translate them into effective Power BI solutions. This role also involves providing training and support to ensure successful adoption of Power BI across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Migration Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive migration strategy to transition from Tableau to Power BI. This includes data source connections, visualization migration, and thorough testing to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Architecture Design: Design scalable and efficient Power BI architectures tailored to meet the specific needs of the business. Ensure that the architecture is optimized for performance and scalability on the Azure Data Platform.
  • Data Integration: Manage and establish data connections across multiple sources, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security throughout the migration process.
  • Dashboard Development: Develop interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports using Power BI. Ensure these meet user requirements and align with the overall business objectives.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize Power BI solutions to enhance performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for the Power BI implementation.
  • Training and Support: Provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to end-users, facilitating the successful adoption and usage of Power BI.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of the migration process, architecture designs, and best practices to support future scalability and maintenance.

Primary (Must-have) Skills
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling. Proven experience in migrating from Tableau to Power BI.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with a talent for interpreting complex data sets and deriving actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

Experience Range
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence and data analytics.
  • At least 2 years of specific experience in migrating solutions from Tableau to Power BI.
Secondary Skills (Good to have)
  • Additional Tools: Experience with other data visualization tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Cloud and Big Data: Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, and familiarity with big data technologies.
  • Data Governance: Understanding of data governance and security best practices.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing BI projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in Power BI or other business intelligence tools are advantageous.
Soft Skills/Other Skills
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on interpreting complex data sets.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects to successful completion.
  • Presentation Skills: Proficient in presenting project updates and outcomes to stakeholders and executives.
