Overview:
The Department of Management – Division of IT is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our talented software team. This role is integral to the modernization of the IWD’s UI Tax system, focusing on re-architecting components to align with industry-leading architectures and frameworks. The goal is to provide enhanced service to both agency staff and end-users while positioning the agency for future technological improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Provide expertise in implementing and operationalizing AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Cloud Advocacy: Serve as a developer advocate for Cloud capabilities, influencing and collaborating across teams to design and implement user-friendly hybrid cloud environments.
- Infrastructure Design: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK.
- AWS Service Management: Manage and configure various AWS services such as EC2, EKS, ECR, Cognito, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.
- Service Mesh Management: Design, build, and maintain service mesh technologies like Istio within EKS clusters.
- Testing: Create unit and integration tests to ensure adequate IaC test coverage.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of infrastructure and applications.
- Monitoring: Collect telemetry and build dashboards, alerts, and notifications for accurate insight into cloud operations and application performance.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance of infrastructure and services.
- Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers to optimize application performance and reliability in AWS environments.
- Security: Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance controls in AWS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, etc.
- AWS CDK development experience.
- Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Dynatrace, etc.
- Ability to build quick POCs to demonstrate cloud capabilities and design user-friendly hybrid cloud environments.
