Job Summary:
Under broad supervision, the Data Analyst will perform complex administrative duties and provide in-depth data analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes in the assigned functional area. The role involves identifying trends, discrepancies, and variances to optimize operational efficiency. The Data Analyst will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to address business issues, while providing high-level support for various projects, grants, and contracts. The position may involve guiding junior team members and offering strategic analysis.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Extract primary data from Oracle Database using SQL.
- Interpret data, analyze results with statistical techniques, and generate ongoing reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of data for internal and external data requests.
- Identify, compile, and clean data for research projects.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Oversee evaluation and research projects.
- Communicate evaluation plans and details to leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external research partners to ensure accurate understanding of data points and sets.
- Develop and monitor data requests, both internal and external.
- Manage, summarize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
- Prepare and present research findings and their implications.
- Summarize published research and prepare findings for publication.
- Create data visualization dashboards using Tableau.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND two years in a related lead or supervisory role OR
- Associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND four years of related experience, including two years in a lead or supervisory role OR
- Two years of experience at the lower level of IT Business Analyst or equivalent position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, etc.), databases (SQL, Oracle, etc.), and programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks).
- Experience in accessing and extracting data from institutional databases.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and interpret complex datasets with a focus on accuracy and detail.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in the Criminal Justice field and/or Data Management/Analysis.
- Proficiency in query writing, report generation, and presenting data findings.
- Experience with data visualization software like Tableau.
