Indian Creek Correctional Center –> 801 Sanderson Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322
St. Brides Correctional Center –> 701 Sanderson Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322
The other two locations they cover would depend on where the candidate is located.
State Vehicle provided to travel to DOC facilities. Once the candidate is fully onboarded and starts delivering consistently, we can be flexible and update their home office to the Vehicle location/vehicle base point where the state vehicle can be parked when not in use.
At least 3 days at facilities could be more depending on items going on during the week. Normally it takes three days at facilities but sometimes during rollouts or critical priorities, it could be more than 3 days
No overnights normally except in case of a critical emergency.
Generally, between 45 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes or so between facilities now Indian Creek and St Brides above are next to each other aka 5 – 7 minutes, or drive at the max bt facilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Field Technology Services team is seeking someone with strong technical skills to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and update software, hardware, and networking as necessary to support the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) education, programs, & operations efforts for VADOC sites and facilities.
Field Technology Specialist provides technical advice, guidance, and implementation of complex work items involving educational and DOC Operations software products such as AZTEC, Lexis Nexis, GED Academy, Auto CAD, Teknimedia, Alexandria, Elevate, and similar software packages. Provides technical support for complex work problems involving computer technology including workstation and server hardware, software and operating systems, networking hardware, software and infrastructure, and various operating systems software. Responsibilities include independently installing, updating, and management of applications and hardware at the assigned facilities.
All candidates must be comfortable going onsite to DOC facilities. This person will be working within the Field Technology team, so they will be required to travel to different sites. Will do our best to allow remote work when possible, but the nature of the work requires an onsite resource.
Work experience in the computer support field. A combination of desktop, server & network support is required within a fast-paced, delivery-oriented agile environment.
This position must be able to perform with minimal direct supervision and may be required to use their home as a base of operation. Significant travel (usually day trips) may be required.
