Responsibilities: • Regulatory Compliance: • Monitor, interpret, and apply data-related regulatory requirements at local, regional, and international levels. • Collaborate with legal, IT, and operational teams to ensure compliance with laws and standards, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or other sector-specific regulations. • Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet data compliance requirements. • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of data governance practices to ensure regulatory adherence. • Data Governance: • Assist in defining and enforcing data governance frameworks, including data quality, security, and usage standards. • Oversee the management of data privacy and protection measures, including data anonymization and pseudonymization strategies. • Ensure appropriate access controls and data usage protocols are in place across the organization. • Collaboration and Communication: • Act as a liaison between regulatory bodies, internal stakeholders, and external auditors on data-related compliance matters. • Provide training and awareness programs to educate employees about regulatory obligations and best practices in data governance. • Offer strategic advice to senior management regarding upcoming regulatory changes and their impact on business processes. • Documentation and Reporting: • Maintain detailed documentation of compliance activities, including audits, incident response plans, and regulatory submissions. • Develop and present reports to senior management on the state of data compliance and associated risks. • Technology Integration: • Work with IT and software teams to ensure compliance tools and systems are implemented effectively. • Evaluate and recommend data compliance technologies to improve regulatory performance and reporting.
Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in law, computer science, data management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred). • 10+ years of experience in data governance, regulatory compliance, or a related field. • Industry-specific certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, CRISC, or similar) are highly desirable. • Skills: • Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA). • Familiarity with data management systems, data classification methods, and data mapping tools. • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and risk assessment skills. • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities. • Proficient in project management and process improvement. • Preferred: • Experience in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, or technology. • Knowledge of data analytics tools and frameworks.
