- 5-7 yr level in Monitoring desired
- They work extensively with Splunk, but also have some AppDynamics, Dynatrace and Solar Winds.
- Need someone past the “operations” piece of monitoringà someone with experience in APM, observability, Automation, Scripting, etc.
- Will join a team of two onshore Sr. Monitoring FTE resources- this doesn’t need to be as Sr., there are also offshore team members
- Experience with maintenance, support, patching, and automation in monitoring.
The Enterprise Monitoring Engineer is responsible for supporting the monitoring infrastructure and maintaining system management event monitoring capabilities. The Enterprise Monitoring Engineer also ensures that the monitoring infrastructure is compliant with service specifications and integrates the necessary systems and applications to monitor the quality services offered by Republic Services. The Enterprise Monitoring Engineer works in cooperation with technical and operational staff to ensure that monitoring capabilities are conformal with operational needs.
PROJECT INFORMATION:
The specific monitoring skills and experience of the chosen candidate will determine the priorities of the work.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implements and supports the Systems Management Monitoring solution.
• Ensures that the monitoring system is updated after the set-up of new platforms and/or services.
• Participates in the necessary phases of the systems implementation process, ensuring new systems and services take into account any monitoring elements and providing the operations team with the necessary documentation and procedures to monitor the services in operation.
• Maintains the health of the monitoring environment by keeping current with upgrades and patches and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with associated tools.
• Writes scripts (shell, bash, Python, Perl, etc.) to execute monitoring tasks that are out of scope (but within the capabilities of the monitoring systems).
• Provides a monthly report to operational and technical staff on service availability related to the satellite networks in operation.
• Supports the set-up of automatic processes and solutions.
• Participates in, and supports troubleshooting and analysis of, unexpected systems behaviors that impact the quality of service.
• Develops, implements and executes test plans for new and existing features.
• Creates summary reports regarding the status of operational service levels to provide to leadership.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with Enterprise Systems Management tools.
• Application Development or IT Engineering experience.
• Experience providing technical support.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with SolarWinds.
• Experience with application performance monitoring applications like AppDynamics and Dynatrace.
• Experience with Splunk.
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation v3 or v4 Certification.
• Experience with transactional monitoring.
