Role: Mainframe z/OS Administrator
Location: Remote
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe z/OS Administrator with 9+ years of relevant experience in System Programming. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of z/OS and its associated software. This role requires extensive hands-on expertise in z/OS administration, system performance optimization, and security management.
Note: This role is strictly for Mainframe z/OS Administrators
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
Install, configure, and migrate z/OS and associated software components.
Ensure maximum uptime in compliance with SLA agreements.
Perform system performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization.
Implement and maintain security policies, including RACF administration.
Plan and execute system upgrades, including z/OS, CICS, DB2, and ISV products.
Manage incident, problem, and change management processes.
Perform backup and restoration planning for 24×7 operations.
Define and enforce processes, procedures, and best practices for system management.
Work on storage capacity planning and catalog management.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and testing.

Required Skills & Experience:
Mandatory Skills:
Strong understanding of z/OS services structure, JES concepts, parallel sysplex/GDPS. Expertise in PARMLIB configuration and JES customization. Hands-on experience with JCL, REXX, CLIST, Modify Assembler EXITS. Solid knowledge of z/OS Hardware, LPAR, and HMC management. Experience with IMS, MQ Series (WebSphere MQ). Strong RACF security administration expertise. Experience with ISV products (e.g., CA-View, CA-1, BMC InControl, CA-7). Proficiency in USS management and z/OS performance analysis. Experience in applying system maintenance (RSUs) and supporting software/hardware upgrades. In-depth knowledge of CICS installation, configuration, and tuning. Proficiency in SMP/E, SQL, DB2 utilities (ZPARMS, DB2 logs, BSDS, DDF, etc.). Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (SAS, MXG, CA-MICS, Strobe, Omegamon). Ability to diagnose performance problems for z/OS systems and applications.Preferred Skills (Good to Have):
Experience in Mainframe Automation & Performance/Capacity Management.
Customization experience with OEM/ISV products (NetView, OPS/MVS, SA z/OS, Tivoli, BMC AO, Control-O, etc.).
Hands-on SAS programming skills and ability to retrofit SAS code for MXG post-upgrade.
