Location: (100% Remote)

Duration: 6 Month Contract

Job Description:

 

The IMS Systems Programmer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IBM Information Management System (IMS) software in a mainframe environment. This role ensures the reliability, availability, and performance of IMS databases and transaction management systems while providing technical support and expertise to application and infrastructure teams.

 

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

 

– Install, upgrade, and maintain IMS software and related components on IBM z/OS mainframes.

 

– Configure and optimize IMS systems for high availability and performance.

 

– Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply fixes or patches as needed.

 

– Provide support for IMS database (DB) and IMS Transaction Manager (TM) environments.

 

– Work with application development teams to ensure IMS systems meet business needs.

 

 

 

Technical Skills

 

· Operating Systems: IBM MVS z/OS Mainframe

 

· Products and Tools: IMS/TM, IMS/DB, BMC IMS tools, IMS DB Physical Design, and IMS MSC

 

· IMS Application programming (Cobol and/or PL/1)

 

· Languages: z/OS MVS Assembler, PL/1, COBOL, and JCL

 

· Networking protocols: TCP/IP, FTP, VTAM

 

Additional Skills

 

· SMPE Experience

 

· z/OS dump analysis/IPCS
