AWS Admin and Operations Lead will orchestrate setting, scaling and maturing AWS operations. This resource will have a deep understanding of AWS technologies, along with a strong background in operations management. In this role, he / she will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS solutions and environments in accordance with BNSF Stakeholders expectations to meet the organization's needs while ensuring optimal performance and reliability
• Manage, monitor, and maintain our AWS infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
• Implement and maintain AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, and others as needed.
• Provide AWS operational guidance both internally to Tech M teams and BNSF Stakeholders as appropriate
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues, implementing updates and patches to maintain system health in BNSF AWS Environments.
• Build secure, robust, and scalable cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services.
• Help Document important artifacts like sample code, tutorials, and best practices recommendations.
• Work with Container & Container Orchestration tools like AWS ECS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Investigating and providing feedback on new AWS services
• Offering guidance on delivering solutions that ensure cross-platform compatibility
• Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Develop and maintain scripts for system monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Implement and maintain cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and network security.
• Continuously improve infrastructure by researching and implementing new AWS services and features.
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 support for critical systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
Setting Operations: Establish operational policies, procedures, and standards for the AWS environment, aligning them with organizational goals, AWS well architected framework and industry best practices.
Scaling Operations: Plan and execute initiatives to scale the AWS environment in response to changing business requirements, user demands, and technological advancements.
Maturing Operations: Drive the maturity of AWS operations through process improvements, knowledge sharing, and skills development. Implement ITIL or other frameworks as applicable.
