Must-have skills:
1) 1-3+ y of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments; HPE/Aruba networking equipment; governmental experience, related certifications.
2) 7+ y of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in network operations, support, maintenance, and administration; HPE/Aruba networking equipment; governmental experience, related certifications.
Requirements:
Network Engineer Required:
• IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in network operations, support, maintenance, and administration (7+ years);
• Experience performing network engineering (hardware and/or software), design, planning, and implementation (3+ years).
Preferred:
• Related networking certifications;
• Experience with HPE/Aruba networking equipment.
Network Technician Required:
• IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments (1-3 years).
Preferred:
• Experience with HPE/Aruba networking equipment;
• Related networking certifications.
Network Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Manage and configure network switch equipment, including startup and running configurations;
• Perform network configurations, ensuring high-quality service from DMARC to workstations, covering fiber distribution, routers, switches, and DHCP;
• Monitor and maintain network performance (LAN, WLAN, WAN), troubleshoot issues, and use remote monitoring tools for efficient operations;
• Conduct capacity and resource planning, assess network risks, and develop contingency plans;
• Communicate firewall rule requirements to the Information Security Team to support projects and new equipment;
• Utilize network management tools to identify faults and ensure seamless data and telecommunications access;
• Adhere to departmental procedures, track incidents and IT equipment through service desk systems, and participate in after-hours on-call rotations;
• Ability to lift 50 pounds;
• Travel to remote locations to provide support, as needed.
Network Engineer Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Possess expertise in network configuration spanning DMARC to workstations, fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and topology to ensure excellent Quality of Service (QoS);
• Plan, implement, and forecast copper and fiber network systems (including wireless) of moderate complexity, managing resource requirements effectively;
• Mentor junior staff on patch management, network management, fault identification, and data/telecom access;
• Extensive experience with enterprise switching products, including capacity and risk assessment, contingency planning, and lifecycle management;
• Active participation in team projects, meetings, and assignments;
• Must know the OSI model and how it pertains to the flow of data throughout the environment;
• Proficiently configure and manage network switch equipment, ensuring protocol compatibility, system tuning, and enhancement recommendations
