Job Description 
The main function of this role is to develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs utilizing software packages considered. A typical specialty analyst/developer is responsible for designing software or customizing software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. 

Job Responsibilities: 
Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met. Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design. Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan computer specifications and layouts, and peripheral equipment modifications. Obtain and evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration. Consult with customers about software system design and maintenance. Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. 

Skills: 
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage one?s time. Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Knowledge of Python, Pandas, Data Visualization, Machine Learning.  circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software. Knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in production of drawings and models. Knowledge of niche computer software, such as Oracle, Csharp.net, Lawson, etc. 

Education/Experience: 
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent training required. 5-7 years related experience required.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group: 
– Data Scientist role to develop and deliver analytics models for Client equipment condition monitoring for the enterprise, and for aftermarket solutions for customers and dealers.
– Condition monitoring models include failure prediction, remaining life estimation, service interval extension, and component risk models.
– Methods include machine learning, deep learning, statistical and rule-based models, and other data analytics techniques to generate actionable insights from time-series machine sensor data, other telematics data, fluids analysis, and machine inspection and service records.

Typical task breakdown:
– Collect and negotiate requirements for condition monitoring models.
– Access, analyze, cleanse, preprocess data; cultivate ground truth data sets as needed.
– Explore and downselect modeling approaches.
– Develop, backtest and validate models in python, in both on-prem and AWS environments. 

– Compute model performance metrics.
– Participate in daily standups and sprint reveals in Scrum/Agile environment.
– Explain and defend modeling decisions and performance results.
– Support model in production, resolve incident tickets.

Work environment: 
– Hybrid work model 

Education & Experience Required: 
 – Bachelor’s Degree (Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field) 5-7 years experience
– Candidates with a relevant Master’s degree and PHd with 3 year experience

Technical Skills 
(Required)
 – Excellent python skills (numpy/pandas/matplotlib/sklearn), version control (git), SQL and database APIs (cx_oracle, pymysql, sqlalchemy), cloud deployment experience (AWS, containerization) and familiarity with AWS services (S3/EC2/SageMaker).
– Comfortable and effective working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
– Desired qualifications: Machine Learning model development experience, familiarity with engineering/IOT systems, telematics/timeseries data analysis, and multiprocessing frameworks (dask, pyspark). 

(Desired) 
– AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (or higher) – desired
