Job Title: IT Solutions and Integration Architect

Location: Atlanta,GA/Hybrid


The Georgia Dept. of Transportation (GDOT) seeks a Solutions & IntegrationArchitect to design and implement innovative enterprise solutions, includingEsri ArcGIS Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions, that integrate dataand platform technologies to meet the organization's needs. Defines thetechnical strategy and direction for the IT enterprise. This role involvescollaborating with stakeholders, understanding business requirements, andarchitecting scalable and efficient Integrated solutions. Architect willwork independently and on project teams. Architect will engage stakeholders orother subject matter experts as needed. This is a hybrid job with time spentworking remotely and on-site. Designs will primarily be provided to ITdevelopers and staff for implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement innovative solutions that integrate data and platform technologies to meet the organization's needs.
  • Design and architect application solutions that integrate data/geodatabases, platforms, and technologies to meet business objectives, improve technical solutions, simplify technical complexity, and reduce needs for IT maintenance/support (e.g. Technical Debt)
  • Create proof-of-concepts to validate design concepts/solutions as needed.
  • Participates in Joint Application Development (JAD) Sessions as needed.
  • Work with external contractors/consultants to migrate their solutions into GDOT IT operating environments.
  • Integrates applications solutions with existing enterprise systems, databases/data warehouse, system jobs, and applications.
  • Ensure interoperability between platforms and other IT systems within the organization.
  • Provide work estimates/validation of estimates to implement development tasks.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for Integrated solutions, including architecture diagrams, data models, and system interfaces.
  • Partner with business and technology subject-matter experts to understand the various levels of requirements, the domain, the viable technologies, and anticipated development required to fulfill any particular solution.
  • Builds the long-term strategic roadmap for enterprise application systems’ architecture. Designs and manages the system architecture and application activities; related to environments, modules, APIs/SDK’s, interfaces, workflows, enhancements, support, application security, and reporting.
  • Develops and maintains standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the enterprise. Conducts source code reviews. Ensures compliance with existing GDOT IT guidelines/standards for operating environments.
  • Develops and implements plans for systems solution migration through multiple environments. Ensures that system solutions are developed tested, documented and implemented based on best practices and industry standards.
  • Stays abreast of new technological opportunities to better help provide the best value-added solutions to the enterprise.
  • Architect and design scalable secure and high performing enterprise level .Net based application that meets business requirement.
  • Mentor and provide design guidance to team lead, senior, and junior developers
  • Ability to layout a technology roadmap
  • Should be able to analyze and recommend performance and security best practices, database designs, and general development conventions and standards

Design and architect solutions involving Esri ArcGIS Geographic Information System (GIS) products within desktop, web, cloud, and mobile environments. Including system jobs, geocoders, and geodatabase/data processing workflows.

WorkTerms and Conditions:

8AM- 5PM 40 hrs. per week

GDOT has NOT specified a number of days onsite vs remote. However, local candidates(i.e. able to come in office) will be preferred over an out of state candidates (i.e. remote worker). GDOT prefers candidates who can demonstrate they have thecapability to work a hybrid work schedule which is a combination of remote andin-office work. Candidate capacity (i.e. days they could come into the office)to work a hybrid work schedule will be discussed during interviews.

  • The consultant will follow all applicable State of Georgia and GDOT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and accepted best practices.
  • The position end date is set for the end of the GDOT Fiscal Year. GDOT may exercise the option to renew contracts in one-year increments. Several successful consultants have continued working for several years with contract extensions. However, GDOT is under no obligation to extend contracts and may terminate employment at any time.
  • When teleworking or working remotely, consultant must have suitable internet connection and environment to comply with GDOT telework policies.
  • GDOT will reimburse authorized travel expense lodging and meals. GDOT will reimburse authorized travel use of a personal vehicle. Any travel expenses to start work or relocate to Georgia or will not be reimbursed. All travel expense reimbursement shall be in accordance with State Accounting Office Travel Policy: https://sao.georgia.gov/state-travel-policy
  • The Department has 13 holidays, which consultants are not allowed to work nor make up any time for those holiday weeks without management's approval. Consultants are not to take extended leave during their first year of service (e.g. greater than 1 week).
  • Consultant must have cell phone which can be used for business calls.
  • GDOT does not provide free parking. All routine commuting expenses are the responsibility of the consultant.
