Description of position
The role of the Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is focused on operational excellence. The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring quality across team/domain specific applications. This is accomplished through software/web testing; evaluating and approving of development tasks as completed for their team/domain; developing, modifying, and executing software strategies and test plans; analyzing and writing test standards and procedures; maintaining documentation of test results to assist in debugging; and modification of software.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Designs, develops, and executes software test strategies, plans, and test scripts.
• Confirms accuracy and completeness on unit, integration, system, and acceptance test plans.
• Designs, creates, and approves or oversees the creation and approval of project test cases, scripts, and conditions, as well as QA-related documentation.
• Develops and ensures adherence to standardized software quality assurance best practices, policies, processes, and controls as it pertains to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Develops and communicates accurate project estimates based on testing dependency analysis as requested by both project and management teams.
• Analyzes and determines test dependencies including QA environment, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans, and communication processes.
• Analyzes relevant business content and participates in requirement gathering sessions providing input on requirement and design documents; assesses requirements for testability, clarity, purpose, inherent ambiguity, contradictory functions, and implementation.
• Develops, documents, and leads the Defect Management process.
• Analyzes and manages test results to identify defects; ensures features and user stories work as expected; and recommends corrective action as appropriate.
• Manages defects appropriately by assigning, monitoring, and providing timely communication through the defect lifecycle.
• Conducts QA risk management process throughout the test plan phase defining and differentiating between risk, defect, and issue.
• Assists teammates in growing and developing the skills necessary to grasp application concepts and tool suite.
• Identifies and resolves problems often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.
• Participates in requirements and use case reviews.
• Provides justifiable estimates for QA resources and testing schedules.
• Creates and gains project approval on project test plans.
• Creates and/or oversees the creation and approval of project test cases, scripts, and conditions.
• Executes test cases and adheres to test plans and schedules.
• Participates in the defect triage process.
• Oversees or generates all QA-related documentation.
• Ensures adherence to standardized QA policies, processes, and documentation standards.
• Helps to mentor and develop other members of the team on QA topics.
• Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
Required skills, abilities, and certifications
• 5+ years’ software quality assurance experience.
• 4+ years’ experience testing in SAP ERP HCM.
• 3+ years’ experience testing in SAP HCM Payroll.
• 3+ years’ hands-on experience using industry standard software QA tools, preferably HP-ALM.
• 1+ years’ experience testing in an SAP Employee Central and SAP HCM ECC environment.
• Ability to differentiate and articulate differences between holistic system testing vs. process-based testing based on configuration parameters, user exits, integrations, and data migration.
• Familiar with source code, version management, and code deployment standards; ability to utilize this knowledge to ensure that QA processes and procedures for test environments are followed and that the integrity of the various environments are not compromised. Strong knowledge of a SDLC and SQA methodology as well as experience testing on an Agile or DevOps teams.
• Strong database skills.

Recommended skills, abilities, and certifications
• General understanding of retail industry, Human Resource, and payroll processes.
• General understanding and knowledge of Employee Central and Kronos.
• Experience in testing iSeries applications.
• Experience with databases in Oracle or DB2 and the ability to write basic SQL queries.
• Knowledgeable in integration points between various SAP modules.
• Experience working with offshore testing teams.
• Experience creating test automation scripts with C# and/or JavaScript or utilizing test automation tools.
• Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
