Job Description:
The Transportation Operations Center is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support network infrastructure, security, and troubleshooting efforts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco routing, network design, and various network management tools. This position involves responding to network support requests, maintaining network resources, and supporting cybersecurity and network monitoring efforts. The engineer will work closely with the team to resolve issues and improve system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to Tier 1 network support requests and resolve break/fix issues.
Design and configure extensions to and connections with the campus network.
Deploy new/replacement network hardware and maintain network infrastructure.
Monitor network traffic and resources for faults or anomalies.
Maintain up-to-date project documentation, inventory, and maintenance records.
Support ITS Field Maintenance with communication implementation and troubleshooting.
Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives, including threat hunting and mitigation.
Manage network security protocols, including VPN and remote access technologies.
Collaborate effectively with team members and customers at all technical levels.
Required Skills and Experience:
Cisco Routing and Switching: 8 years.
VLAN Management: 5 years
Network Design: 5 years.
Access Control Lists (ACLs): 8 years
Subnetting: 10 years
Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.): 8 years
Authentication (Radius, TACACS): 5 years
Network Monitoring: 5 years.
STP, VTP, Multicast: 5 years
VPN & Remote Access Technologies: 5 years
