Job Description: Information Security Analyst
Job Location-Indiana
Duration: 12 Months
Position Overview:
The Information Security Analyst, reporting to the Information Security Manager within the Information Technology Division of the Department of Child Services (DCS) in the State of Indiana, is responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of systems containing sensitive information. This role involves auditing, monitoring, and implementing security measures to safeguard against unauthorized access or destruction of information assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and report on the status of information security and confidentiality conditions, identifying problem areas and recommending enhancements.
Interface with user customers to understand security needs, implement procedures, and provide training and assessments as required.
Assist in preparing for and participating in security audits by external agencies (e.g., IRS, SSA, OCSE, FBI, SBOA) and remediate findings as necessary; generate relevant reports.
Develop information security policies and standards in compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., IRS, SSA, OCSE, FBI, IOT) and guidelines (e.g., NIST SP 800-53); create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for policy implementation.
Recommend security safeguards for new and existing information technology systems to mitigate risks effectively.
Optimize computer hardware and software features to secure automated systems and associated data.
Implement and manage information security management software and propose enhancements.
Conduct periodic audits to ensure adherence to security policies and standards, recommending improvements as needed.
Stay updated on changes in privacy standards, network security, cloud security, remote access, and physical security laws.
Mentor and provide guidance to staff; perform related duties and assist with other tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
Thorough knowledge of information security management tools, policies, and standards, with 3-5 years of experience.
1-3 years of Network Admin experience.
Ability to develop and maintain information security standards, with at least 1 year of experience.
Proficiency in understanding and applying complex computer logic to work.
Familiarity with software vulnerabilities, scanning tools, and remediation, with 1 year of experience.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of IT professionals.
Experience with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, SOC 2, CIS, Cobit).
Background in computer security compliance and auditing, including IRS and SSA compliance.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred: Security certification (e.g., CISSP, CRISC).
Preferred: Degree in information security or related technology field.
