Job Description: We are looking for an experienced IoT and Cloud Architect to lead our roadside modernization tolling project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in device integration, high transaction processing systems, messaging architectures, and zero trust architectures. You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions to modernize tolling systems, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of IoT and cloud-based architectures for roadside tolling systems.
  • Integrate various devices and sensors into a unified system, ensuring seamless communication and data collection.
  • Architect high transaction processing systems to handle large volumes of tolling transactions efficiently and accurately.
  • Develop and implement robust messaging architectures to support real-time data transmission and processing.
  • Ensure the security of the tolling system through the adoption of zero trust architecture principles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices for IoT and cloud technologies.
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, design specifications, and deployment guides.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to the tolling system.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in IoT and cloud architecture, with a strong focus on device integration and high transaction processing systems.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • In-depth knowledge of messaging architectures (e.g., MQTT, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Strong understanding of zero trust architecture principles and implementation.
  • Experience with edge computing and IoT device management platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex tasks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in roadside tolling or transportation systems.
  • Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning as applied to IoT data.
  • Certification in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
