Position Title: PSERS – Database Administrator (TAS1 A4 SC2)
Client: Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS)
Location: Hybrid; Remote Off-Site and On-Site (as required) in Harrisburg, PA
Visa –Any
Duration: Initial term through 06/30/2025 (+ Annual Renewal in 1-Year Terms)

Note: This position is primarily remote off-site, with occasional on-site when needed, as certain business unit projects may require some intermittent on-site. Candidates must currently be within reasonable commuting distance (2-hour/200-miles) of Harrisburg, PA to be considered.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled professional to join our team in a multifaceted role that encompasses Database Administration, Database Development, and Data Architecture. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, designing, and optimizing our Microsoft SQL and PostgreSQL database systems. This role requires a deep understanding of database management, development, and architecture to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration
-Install and configure Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL database servers.
-Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, recovery, and patch management.
-Monitor database performance and security, using tools like SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) , pgAdmin, SolarWinds, and AWS CloudWatch.
-Implement and manage database security policies to ensure data integrity and compliance with data privacy regulations.
-Provide technical support and troubleshoot database-related issues.
Database Development
-Design and create database schemas, tables, views, and queries for MS SQL and PostgreSQL.
-Optimize database objects and queries for performance and efficiency.
-Develop and maintain scripts for database automation tasks.
Data Architecture
-Design the overall structure of the database to ensure scalability, security, and performance.
-Create data models that represent and support business processes.
-Develop and implement strategies for management, data warehousing and data integration.
-Ensure adherence to best practices in database design and implementation.
Must Have Skills :
– College Degree and IT certifications are highly desirable
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, development, and architecture
-Strong knowledge of SQL database architecture, configuration, and administration
-Proficiency in SQL and database performance tuning
-Experience with database backup and recovery solutions
-Familiarity with data modelling and data warehousing concepts
-Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools
-Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
-Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
– Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, development, and architecture
