Future state they are building new databases. Moving to microservices
architecture and need to take the business requirements to design the databases for relational databases and data warehouses.
Technical Skills:
Currently using Toad, but they just need experience with a modeling tool
Spreadsheets for data dictionaries
Take the tables and drag them around into a model that makes sense
Hands-on writing queries digging into the database
SQL
NoSQL
Oracle
Data warehousing
Great communicators – they will need to define requirements with the business and technical teams
Eventually want to standup a data repository
Multiple modeling tools and hands-on experience most important
Questions from hiring manager:
- What data modeling tools have you used? Describe the databases you have designed. Were they relational databases? Have they reverse engineered data models from a database? What were some of the challenges?
- Describe your experience writing SQL queries. Can you write a complex SELECT statement? Have they generated DDL from a data model to create a database?
