Job Overview:

The Data Engineer will take a lead role in providing complex application development services in Highmark’s Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. This includes designing, coding, testing, and implementing systematic solutions to meet customer requirements and maintain complex applications. The candidate should have hands-on experience with Databricks and be capable of troubleshooting workflows and optimizing Databricks notebooks, clusters, and jobs.

Key Skills for this Role:

• Databricks: Hands-on experience working with Databricks notebooks, clusters, and jobs.
• GCP: Expertise in Google Cloud Platform, including services like BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow.
• Spark & Python/Pyspark: Proficient in Spark programming with a strong understanding of its core concepts.
• Data Engineering: Strong skills in data ingestion (batch and streaming), transformation, and quality validation.
• ETL & Data Pipelines: Experience with ETL processes and data orchestration tools.
• Problem-solving & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, analyze root causes, and guide less experienced team members.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• 5 years of experience as a developer
• 3 years of experience in Databricks, Python/Pyspark, and GCP (Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow)
• Strong data engineering skills, with a focus on ETL, data pipelines, and data orchestration
• Problem-solving and leadership abilities
• Experience in Healthcare or Health Insurance Industry
• Certifications in Python, Databricks, GCP
