Position: Cloud Operations Engineer

About the role: The Cloud Solutions team is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cloud Operations Engineer to support a large initiative. Currently, they are consolidating their SAP instances from over 30 to 7. This role will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting these newly built environments and have a mix of operation engineering support and (minimal) release engineering.

Requirements:

•            5+ years of experience in Cloud Operations support/engineering or a similar role in an Azure cloud environment

•            Experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools like DataDog, CloudWatch, Qlik Sense, etc

•            Hands-on experience creating and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform

•            Hands-on experience with RedHat Ansible and SLES (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server)

•            Strong proficiency in Ansible, including the ability to write and troubleshoot complex YAML playbooks

•            Hands-on Python programming experience, with the ability to read, troubleshoot, and improve existing code

•            Experience supporting critical enterprise environments

•            Extensive experience with Azure cloud services and architectures, particularly landing zones

Preferred Skills:

•            Familiarity with SAP systems and migration projects

•            Azure Solutions Architect, SuSE Certified Administrator/Engineer, or other relevant certifications

•            Experience with Git for version control

•            Using IaC to setup High Availability and Disaster Recovery environments

•            Familiarity with GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins for pipeline management

Responsibilities:

•            Own and manage the operational documentation with direction from the Program Cloud Leader and the Operations Director

•            Provide Operational support for program environments during “hypercare” period with post handoff between build and operations 

•            Quickly learn and master the current release process, while continuously identifying areas for improvement

•            Work with Terraform configurations to manage Azure infrastructure

•            Troubleshoot and optimize Python code used in the deployment process

•            Validate infrastructure readiness prior to hand off to operations

•            Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transition to and from the infrastructure build team

•            Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements in a highly regulated government contracting environment

•            Participate in on-call rotations to support production deployments and troubleshoot issues
