Job Description: Network Engineer
Location: Madison, WI (Day 1 Onsite – 5 days/week at the client office)
Project Overview:
The role involves replacing End-of-Life (EoL) devices such as switches and clients, racking and stacking hardware, cabling, LAN configuration, port capacity planning, and performing basic break-fix tasks related to switching and wireless networks.
Key Tools/Requirement:
The client uses Cisco DNAC for network deployment. Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience managing networks using Cisco DNAC (not just monitoring).
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Deployment and Replacement:
- Replace End-of-Life (EoL) switches and devices.
- Perform racking, stacking, and cabling activities.
- Configuration and Troubleshooting:
- Configure and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LANs).
- Plan and implement port capacity as needed.
- Perform basic break-fix tasks for switching and wireless networks.
- Field Support:
- Provide on-ground support for hardware installations and configurations.
- Perform real-time troubleshooting for LAN and wireless connectivity issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Cisco Switching Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with Cisco switches.
- Cisco Meraki Wireless:
- Experience in deploying and managing Cisco Meraki wireless networks.
- Cisco DNAC Proficiency:
- Practical experience in managing networks using Cisco DNAC, including deployments, troubleshooting, and optimizations.
- Field Work Skills:
- Racking, stacking, and cabling proficiency.
- LAN/Wireless Troubleshooting:
- Strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques for LAN and wireless systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with other network management and monitoring tools.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently on-site.
