Job Description:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of a durable capital electro-surgical hospital device. The role involves working with both in-house manufactured components and vendor-supplied parts, ensuring seamless integration into a rectangular tray assembly. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SolidWorks 2023, GD&T, and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles, with a focus on plastic molded parts and assembly fit & finish.
Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize SolidWorks 2023 to develop and refine mechanical designs, leveraging existing drawings and parts.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure precise tolerancing, manufacturability, and assembly integrity.
• Design and optimize plastic molded parts, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with manufacturing constraints.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to manage part fabrication and integration.
• Conduct design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) evaluations to streamline production.
• Ensure high standards in assembly fit & finish, addressing tolerances, material properties, and performance expectations.
• Support design documentation, BOM updates, and engineering change processes as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in medical devices or capital equipment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks 2023 and experience working with existing CAD models and drawings.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and industry standards for manufacturing and quality control.
• Hands-on experience with plastic molded part design and supplier collaboration.
• Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA) best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
