Role: Desktop Engineer
Location: New York, NY or North Carolina, NC or San Antonio, TX
NOTE: This is a onsite role for above locations.
Job Description:
We are seeking a versatile Windows Administrator and Desktop Support Engineer to manage and maintain IT systems, provide robust desktop support, and ensure seamless operations across the organization. The role combines Windows system administration expertise with hands-on desktop support to resolve technical issues and optimize the end-user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers and client systems.
• Monitor and manage Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and user permissions.
• Oversee system updates, patches, and backups to ensure security and continuity.
• Optimize system performance by monitoring server health and resources.
• Manage virtual environments using VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Windows-based network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
Desktop Support
• Provide first-line and advanced support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Set up, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
• Respond to and resolve technical support requests in a timely manner through various channels (in-person, email, or remote).
• Assist in deploying and managing enterprise applications and software.
• Manage IT asset inventory, ensuring records are updated accurately.
• Escalate unresolved issues to relevant teams or vendors, providing clear documentation.
Collaboration and Documentation
• Work closely with IT teams to support organization-wide technology initiatives.
• Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.
• Train and guide junior staff in troubleshooting techniques and IT policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in Windows administration and desktop support.
• Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Group Policies.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience with tools like SCCM, Intune, or other system management platforms.
• Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, CompTIA A+, or ITIL, are a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving.
