Role: Senior Product Manager – Strategic Consulting

Location: San Jose, CA

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  1. Product Management Mindset, Standards, and Methodologies:
  • Develop and implement product management standards, methodologies, and best practices to establish a Product-Led mindset across Adobe Technology Services.
  • Define product requirements, create product visions, and establish key success metrics that align with the organization’s goals.
  • Partner with 130+ internal product managers and related disciplines (e.g., UX, Architecture, Engineering) to enhance the product management framework.
  • Support the organization’s shift towards a more cohesive, product-focused approach in delivering technology solutions.
  1. Consulting Services:
  • Provide high-touch consulting to product teams working on high-visibility, multi-year, CIO-level strategic initiatives.
  • Offer tailored guidance on product management best practices, processes, and methodologies, helping teams improve their delivery and effectiveness.
  • Act as a Proxy Product Manager when needed, stepping into the product owner role to lead by example and help teams navigate complex product challenges.
  1. Training, Coaching, and Workshops:
  • Design, deliver, and facilitate customized training programs, coaching sessions, and workshops to elevate the skills and knowledge of product managers and teams.
  • Bring product management standards and best practices to life through interactive sessions and real-world applications.
  • Focus on building the capacity of product managers to operate independently and execute product management practices effectively across the organization.
  1. Diagnostics and Process Optimization:
  • Conduct maturity assessments to evaluate the performance of product teams and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within five partner Centers of Excellence (Portfolio Management, Program Management, UX, Enterprise Architecture) to diagnose bottlenecks in processes and recommend efficiency improvements across the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop targeted development plans for teams to close gaps and optimize processes to align with industry best practices.
  1. Performance Metrics:
  • Establish and track clear performance metrics to measure the success of product management efforts within the organization.
  • Align product management metrics with overarching business goals and ensure that they reflect the progress towards product success.
  • Monitor progress over time to ensure continuous improvement, organizational maturity, and enhanced product outcomes.
  1. Change Management & Internal Marketing:
  • Lead change management initiatives to drive the adoption of product management best practices and standards within Adobe Technology Services, which spans 3,000+ employees.
  • Develop and execute marketing and communication plans to promote the product management transformation and encourage engagement across business units.
  • Ensure organizational buy-in by working with key stakeholders to communicate the value of the product management transformation and its impact on overall business success.

Qualifications:

  • Proven Experience in Product Management: A strong track record of successfully leading and delivering complex products and projects across the entire product lifecycle.
  • Expertise in Product Management Best Practices: Deep understanding of product management methodologies, processes, and tools, with the ability to apply these effectively in varied contexts.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, and effectively influence change within an organization.
  • Experience in Training & Coaching: Demonstrated experience in delivering training programs, workshops, and coaching sessions for large groups (50+ people), with an emphasis on empowering product teams.
  • Independent and Collaborative: Ability to work autonomously and lead initiatives independently, while also being a collaborative team player.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical abilities, with a proven ability to make data-driven decisions and approach problems strategically.
  • Results-Oriented: Proactive, focused on delivering tangible outcomes and improving processes and product management capabilities across the organization.

Preferred Skills:

  • Consulting or Advisory Experience: Previous experience in a consulting or advisory role, particularly within the field of product management, would be highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Maturity Assessments: Experience with maturity assessments and the ability to evaluate product teams’ effectiveness in relation to industry standards.
  • Process Optimization Knowledge: A solid understanding of process optimization techniques and the application of performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
