About the Role:

Join our dynamic team at NRL as a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Linux. You’ll lead the charge in engineering and technical support, focusing on the Linux platform’s design, development, installation, testing, and operation. Your role is crucial in maintaining our enterprise environment’s security and efficiency, ensuring compliance with rigorous DoD/USN/NRL standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the engineering efforts for Linux systems, ensuring optimal design, development, installation, testing, and operational standards.
  • Manage Linux-based systems across both unclassified and classified networks, ensuring seamless integration and robust security.
  • Oversee the deployment and management of Linux environments, aligning with strategic objectives and operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with IAVA/B, STIGs, and Navy directives, maintaining the highest security and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system capabilities and support broader organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma/GED with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in Linux systems engineering.
  • Proven track record in Linux system design, development, and management.
Preferred Skills:
  • Advanced problem-solving and technical skills in Linux environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a capacity to lead teams and projects.
  • Strong understanding of DoD/Navy security practices and compliance requirements.
Working Conditions:
  • Based onsite at NRL facilities in Washington D.C. with potential telework as per DoD/Navy/NRL mandates.
  • The role requires adherence to NRL’s operational schedules, environmental, and health and safety policies.
