Role: Data Architect

Location – Jersey City, NJ

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Implement Architecture & Infrastructure for Data Integration:

• Lead the design and implementation of architecture for integrating data from various sources to ensure smooth data movement and transformation across systems.
• Leverage Snowflake and other platforms to create robust, scalable, and optimized infrastructure for seamless data flows.

Develop Data Models and Data Flow Processes:

• Design efficient data models that meet business and technical requirements, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Develop and optimize data flow processes to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely data integration, transformation, and storage.
• Implement data modeling techniques (e.g., star schemas, snowflake schemas) tailored to organizational needs.

Design and Optimize Scalable Data Warehouses:

• Architect and optimize data warehouses capable of handling large volumes of data and user queries with minimal latency.
• Focus on optimizing Snowflake-based data warehouses for performance and scalability, ensuring that they can meet business growth requirements.

Act as the Single Point of Contact (POC) for UST:

• Act as the main liaison between UST (client or internal team) and all technical teams.
• Provide leadership and direction to ensure the client’s data needs are being met and all project requirements are communicated clearly and effectively.

Gather Requirements, Own Processes, and Work with Client Project Management Team:

• Collect, document, and prioritize business and technical requirements from clients, ensuring the solutions meet business objectives.
• Take ownership of key processes, ensuring they are executed efficiently and accurately.
• Collaborate closely with the project management team to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.

Provide Requirements to Offshore Team:

• Clearly articulate project requirements, architecture designs, and deadlines to offshore teams.
• Ensure offshore teams have the necessary resources, context, and tools to complete tasks on time and to specification.

Escalate Issues to Obtain Planned Inputs and Time Commitments:

• Proactively manage issues and risks by escalating challenges to key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of planned inputs and time commitments.
• Track project progress, resolve blockers, and ensure timely communication of risks or delays.

Participate in Weekly Status Updates:

• Provide regular updates in status meetings to share project progress, highlight potential risks, and align on next steps.
• Keep both internal teams and the client informed on the status of ongoing tasks, including any adjustments required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Technical Expertise:
• Snowflake expertise in data modeling, optimization, and architecture.
• Strong background in data modeling techniques, including both normalized and dimensional models (e.g., star schemas, snowflake schemas).
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and familiarity with the tools used in these workflows.
• Experience in designing and optimizing scalable data warehouses, especially in cloud environments.
• Accounts Payable and Capital Markets domain expertise, understanding how to handle and integrate financial data for reporting, compliance, and transaction processing.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Strong leadership and client management abilities, serving as the main point of contact for UST.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with offshore teams, ensuring alignment and quality delivery of solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify, escalate, and resolve challenges that could impact project timelines or quality.
• Project Management:
• Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with project management teams to ensure tasks are completed on time.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple aspects of the project simultaneously.
• Escalation skills to address roadblocks or delays, ensuring timely resolution and smooth progress.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with other cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for data management and integration.
• Experience working with financial systems and data integration in areas like Accounts Payable and Capital Markets.
• Certifications in Snowflake, Data Warehousing, or Cloud Architecture are a plus.
