Background and Introduction

Infrastructure Design, a team within NIT, provides expertise in designing secure and efficient infrastructure solutions. Supporting over 200 technologies, 24,000 servers, and various cloud services, the team ensures interoperability, performance, and availability for on-premise and cloud platforms. It collaborates with development teams, Endpoint teams, and CISO teams to deliver robust infrastructure solutions aligned with CIO Architectures and Strategies.

Role Overview

The CI/CD Engineer will contribute to the Postal DevSecOps initiatives, providing expert support for USPS cloud and on-prem infrastructure platforms and applications.

Key Responsibilities

CI/CD Pipeline Development and Management:

  • Design, build, test, and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Automate workflows using GitHub Actions to integrate CI/CD components like Terraform, Trivy, Megalinter, and ServiceNow.
  • Develop and manage pipelines with tools like GitHub, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

  • Develop infrastructure design patterns using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Deploy and maintain infrastructure across Cloud Service Providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-prem environments.

Container and Kubernetes Management:

  • Utilize container registries (Artifactory, GHCR, and CSP registries) to manage base container images.
  • Support Kubernetes clusters, including AKS, GKE, EKS, ROSA, and Rancher.

Collaboration and Process Improvement:

  • Work with development and operations teams to create pipelines tailored to their requirements.
  • Advise on process improvement initiatives and IT requirements related to CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate security processes like vulnerability scanning, testing, and monitoring.

Operational Support and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, implementing changes as required.
  • Act as an escalation resource for the Operations team.
  • Mentor and provide knowledge transfer to junior team members.

Documentation and Prioritization:

  • Document processes and procedures thoroughly.
  • Prioritize and schedule projects and tasks as directed by Postal leadership.

Qualifications

Certifications:

  • Preferred: GitHub Certification or Cloud Certifications (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Experience:

  • 5–7 years of experience in technology or software development preferred.

Education:

  • A degree in a relevant field from an accredited college/university is preferred.
  • Note: Without a degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required
