Job Title:  Product Designer
Location:  Tyson Corner, VA (Onsite)

Type: Contract


Responsibilities

·        Lead and execute end-to-end design initiatives to align with our product deadlines

·        Communicate complex information using interaction design tools, including journey maps, storyboards, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, etc.

·        Apply, maintain, and build upon design systems to ensure consistent designs

·        Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, subject matter experts, copywriters, legal, and executive leaders

·        Leverage and contribute to an existing design system to ensure consistent designs across our web, mobile, and native applications

·        Understand and document user research findings and iterate designs based on feedback

·        Create click-through prototypes, presentations, and videos to showcase product vision and get buy-in from key stakeholders

Required

·        An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating relevant experience. Please include a link to your online portfolio or work samples.  

·        Bachelor's degree or higher in Interaction Design, User Experience (UX) Design, Service Design, Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related fields

·        6+ years of work experience in the design field

·        Proficiency in design, prototyping, and presentation software such as Figma and Keynote

·        Experience in the application of design systems such as Material Design

·        Experience working across multiple platforms (e.g., products, websites, mobile apps, etc.)

·        Ability to communicate abstract design concepts visually and verbally in a clear and engaging manner

Nice to have

·        Technical knowledge on HTML, CSS, JavaScript

·        Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Lead Graphic Designer to join our team. This role involves spearheading graphic design initiatives while contributing to UX design projects (20% of the time). As a creative leader, you will oversee design strategies, ensure brand consistency, and deliver compelling visuals for various platforms. Your UX design expertise will help elevate user-centered designs, ensuring seamless digital experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Graphic Design Leadership:

    • Lead and manage graphic design projects from concept to delivery.
    • Develop creative visual concepts for marketing campaigns, branding, and digital platforms.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and development, to ensure designs meet business objectives.
    • Maintain brand consistency across all visuals and communications.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design environment.
  • UX Design (20%):

    • Collaborate with product managers and developers to create user-centric designs.
    • Design wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to improve user experience.
    • Conduct user research and apply findings to enhance the usability of designs.
    • Support the development of UI components that align with branding and accessibility standards.
  • Project Management:

    • Prioritize and manage multiple design projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
    • Communicate design concepts and progress to stakeholders.
    • Stay updated on design trends, tools, and best practices to continuously enhance the design process.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
    • Proven experience in UX design, including wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
    • A strong portfolio showcasing graphic and UX design work.
  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
    • Expertise in UX/UI design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
    • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout design.
    • Knowledge of HTML/CSS is a plus.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
