Role: Mainframe System Engineer

Location: 100% Remote (DE, NC, PA, FL, NY, NJ, and TX)

Duration: 6+ months CTH

Client: CareFirst

Visa: USC or GC Only

Interview process: 2 rounds of video interviews

Location: Remote. candidates residing in DC, MD, VA, or WV. We will also consider approved states, including DE, NC, PA, FL, NY, NJ, and TX

Candidate Status Requirement: USC or GC holder

Summary: 

CareFirst seeks a Mainframe Support Engineer to assist with daily monitoring of IT infrastructure and applications and provide on-call support. This environment is predominantly DB2, JCL, Cobol and ZOS.

Shift schedule will be 8 hours overnight 5x weekly Tuesday to Saturday OR Sunday to Friday.

Shifts will be 6:00 am – 2:00 pm OR 10:00 pm – 6:00 am

Responsibilities include.

• Real-time monitoring for both Mainframe and Distributed systems to proactively detect and prevent service disruption.
• Responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems through resolution.
• Create or alter new and existing jobs and job schedules on the mainframe, Windows, and UNIX environments

Required:

• 5+ years of experience as a mainframe support engineer responsible for monitoring / supporting applications in DB2, JCL, COBOL, and ZOS environments
• Experience creating or altering new and existing jobs and job schedules on the mainframe
• Prior nightshift experience

Nice to have:

• Prior healthcare experience
