Role Overview:
Title: Azure Administrator
Location: Frisco, TX / Remote
Experience: 10+ years preferred
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science (preferred)
Certifications: Mandatory Microsoft Azure certification
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Azure Platform Expertise:
- Proficiency in managing IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS services on Azure.
- Experience provisioning and deprovisioning resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Review and remediation of security and governance violations on Azure.
- Expertise in using CI/CD tools such as Gitlab or Azure DevOps for configuration management.
- System Administration:
- Solid understanding of Linux and Windows OS administration.
- Experience with system health monitoring and ensuring high availability.
- Ability to perform security patches, updates, and configurations on Windows and Linux systems.
- Network configuration experience (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, encryption).
- Automation & Scripting:
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python for automating processes.
- Ability to automate tasks like backup and restore, security patching, and resource management.
- Performance and cost optimization, leveraging scripting and other tools.
- Security & Compliance:
- Participation in SOX audits and maintaining security compliance across platforms.
- Ensure proper tagging of Azure resources for chargeback and cloud spend optimization.
- Security management through periodic audits, vulnerability assessments, and proactive fixes.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, including domain management, replication, and protocols such as Kerberos and LDAP.
- Resilience and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring reliable backup and restore operations.
- In-depth experience with Kubernetes and Databricks clusters.
- Performance & Cost Optimization:
- Review and perform performance and cost optimization activities on Azure resources.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling repeated or known issues.
Responsibilities:
- Azure Infrastructure Management:
- End-to-end management of cloud resources across IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS.
- Configuration management and infrastructure provisioning using tools like Gitlab or Azure DevOps.
- Security & Governance:
- Manage and review security compliance, including addressing governance violations in Azure.
- Ensure systems are compliant with industry standards and company security policies.
- Monitoring & Incident Management:
- Set up, configure, and maintain monitoring and alerting tools for system health and availability.
- Participate in ticket handling processes for incident resolution, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Patch Management & OS Administration:
- Regularly patch both Windows and Linux systems and maintain OS security.
- Disaster Recovery & Backup Operations:
- Implement and manage backup and restore strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Cost Management & Resource Optimization:
- Monitor and analyze cloud usage for cost optimization opportunities and ensure accurate resource tagging for chargebacks.
- Automation & Performance Optimization:
- Automate routine administrative tasks and optimize system performance and cloud resource utilization.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation (SOPs) for known processes and recurring issues.
- Support the team in incident management and help document solutions for recurring issues.
