Senior Java Developer
Contract duration: Six Month (with possibility of extension)
Location: Fully remote
Some University experience must Required
At UCOP, there is a need for a senior developer who is well versed in all technical aspects of maintaining and supporting UCOP’s Financials Java applications.
Job duties:
• Strong Java & AWS cloud experience
• Designs, develops, modifies, debugs, deploys, and evaluates complex Java/AWS applications.
• Upgrade the web applications to use the latest versions of the Java (version 17 or higher).
• Addressing web applications security vulnerabilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Strong Java programming language experience.
• Strong experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Experience with JBOSS & Tomcat application servers.
• Python and/or Node experience a plus.
• Experience using Docker.
• Experience with AWS services: VPC, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Athena, Glue, CodePipeline and ECS/Fargate.
• Experience in writing Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation, CDK (Cloud Development Kit) and Terraform.
• Knowledgeable in SQL and DDL in DB2 and SQLServer platforms. Experience Implementing stored procedures and effectively writing advanced queries.
• Ability to perform source code management and application build and deployment using tools like Git, Maven, and Shell scripts.
• Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent/related functions.
• Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
• Experience in cross platform solutions which utilize a variety of technologies and experience in identifying and documenting the best technical solution for each business requirement.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and translate complex business rules into technical designs.
