Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Client: Birlasoft
 
Job Summary: 
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to conduct site surveys, assess rack requirements, mount access points, and manage the installation and pre-configuration of network devices, including Meraki routers, switches, and access points. The Network Engineer will also oversee the production cutover to ensure a seamless transition.
 
Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Survey and Assessment:
   • Conduct comprehensive site surveys to evaluate current network infrastructure.
   • Assess rack space, power requirements, and environmental conditions for network device installation.
2. Rack and Device Installation:
   • Determine and document rack requirements for network devices.
   • Mount access points and network devices in racks according to best practices.
   • Ensure proper cabling and power connections for all devices.
3. Pre-Configuration and Setup:
   • Pre-configure Meraki routers, switches, and access points based on network design specifications.
   • Test and validate device configurations to ensure optimal performance and security.
4. Production Cutover:
   • Plan and execute the production cutover process, minimizing downtime and disruption.
   • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition to the new network infrastructure.
   • Monitor network performance post-cutover and address any issues promptly.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
   • Maintain detailed documentation of site surveys, configurations, and installation processes.
   • Provide regular updates and reports to project managers and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience with network device installation, configuration, and management.
• Expertise in Meraki routers, switches, and access points.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, security, and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 
Preferred Certifications:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Meraki Solutions Specialist
• CompTIA Network+
