Position Overview:
The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is seeking a Project Manager to join our Project Management Office. The individual in this role will be responsible for providing project management services for a variety of DMAS initiatives, encompassing both technology and business projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with Medicaid Management IT Systems and a solid understanding of the business context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete project lifecycle, including procurement (where needed), planning, execution, control, and closeout of IT and business projects.
- Methodology Application: Utilize Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies as appropriate to ensure project success.
- Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships and track vendor deliverables to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Project Management: Maintain project schedules, budgets, risks, issues, and status updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Detailed Project Planning: Produce comprehensive project plans and develop schedules using Microsoft Project, creating both standalone and integrated project timelines.
- Multi-Project Management: Effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities to meet organizational goals.
- Stakeholder Communication: Manage stakeholder communications and expectations, providing updates to senior leadership as necessary.
- Dashboard Creation: Develop project dashboards and presentations, leading meetings to communicate information to various stakeholders.
- Workflow & Requirements Development: Create workflows, user stories, and project requirements as needed to facilitate project execution.
Qualifications:
- Project Management Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience managing large projects, stakeholders, and leading project teams.
- MS Project Proficiency: Advanced knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Project for project planning and management (6 years).
- Data Analysis & Presentation Skills: Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel to analyze data and produce dashboards (6 years).
- Project Methodologies: Demonstrated experience in leading both Waterfall and Agile projects (6 years for Agile).
- MS Visio Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Visio for workflow and diagram creation (5 years).
- PMP Certification: Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Medicaid/Managed Care Experience: Experience working in the Medicaid or Managed Care Organizations is desired.
