Juniper site: The environment or network setup is built using Juniper devices, so experience with Juniper hardware and software is essential.

Required Skills:

  • Juniper EX Switching: Experience with Juniper EX Series switches, which are commonly used for access and aggregation layers in enterprise networks.
  • Juniper QFX Switching: Familiarity with Juniper QFX Series switches, often used for data centers and high-performance networking environments.
  • Juniper SRX Firewalls: Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Juniper SRX Series firewalls, which provide security and routing capabilities.
  • Palo Alto Firewalls: Experience working with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, known for advanced security features such as threat detection and prevention.
  • Configure / Troubleshoot for the above: The candidate should be able to configure and troubleshoot the devices listed above, with a strong understanding of network protocols and behaviors.
  • Strong Layer 2 experience: Expertise in Layer 2 of the OSI model (Data Link layer), which includes switching, VLANs, and MAC address management.
  • Migrating switching fabric: Experience with migrating network infrastructure, specifically from one type of switching fabric (set of connected switches) to another.
  • Trace host devices: The ability to trace and troubleshoot network paths by checking ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) and MAC address tables to find which switchport a device is connected to.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Cisco Catalyst Switching: Familiarity with Cisco Catalyst switches, which are widely used in enterprise networking.
  • Cisco ASA Firewalls: Experience with Cisco ASA (Adaptive Security Appliance) firewalls, which provide network security and VPN services.
