Role: Data Base Administrator
Location: Lansing, Michigan-@Hybrid(2nd round In person Interview)
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Sybase ASE 15.7 on Solaris in an X86 hardware environment.
- Assist with SQL Server databases across various versions on Windows Server, both on-premises and in Azure.
- Perform database maintenance tasks, including weekly data fixes (Thursday and Friday) and after-hours support as needed.
- Participate in the on-call rotation (Saturday morning to Monday morning) after an initial learning period.
- Assist with Sybase to SQL Server migration, working closely with senior DBAs.
- Troubleshoot database issues and manage tasks related to Disaster Recovery, clustering, and system updates.
- Follow formal change control processes for all database modifications and deployments.
- Develop and manage Unix CRON jobs for database automation.
Requirements:
- Experience with Sybase ASE 15.7 administration, including command-line Unix/CRON job management.
- Knowledge of SQL Server administration and maintenance, including experience with Windows Servers.
- Familiarity with clustering and Disaster Recovery practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in database environments.
- Experience with formal change control environments.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week with two days on-site; flexible to assist with on-call rotation as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in Sybase to SQL Server migration is highly desired.
