Role: SAM (Software Asset Management) Lead

Location : Mclean VA; Plano TX (Onsite from day 1)

Need 12+ yrs of exp profiles

Summary

In the day to day, you are likely to be involved in leading team to deliver software license reviews for software vendors and addressing end user customer needs including SAM tool implementation or configuration, maturity analysis and road maps, preparation for ELA renewals, optimization of both perpetual license and SaaS spend, providing audit support and delivering ELP managed services.

This position is integral to the success of the SAM Program as it will direct and report on the overall service health, on-going initiatives, and guide the day-to-day operations of the team.

 

The ideal individual for this position has natural leadership skills, a proven track record across a multitude of Publishers, understands the complexities of licensing in a global environment and can effectively and collaboratively work across numerous internal departments and external partners.

 

Key Focus and Objectives for Role:

ØProvide strategic leadership of the SAM service

ØEstablish SAM process measures and targets for the department

ØEnsure SAM department and resources are aligned with technology organization's strategic vision

ØEstablish and communicate the process mission, goals, and objectives to all stakeholders

ØDocumenting and maintaining required SAM processes, policies, and procedures

ØProduce and deliver powerful and expressive PowerPoint presentations, often to explain highly complex software licensing models, metrics, and implications to a myriad of stakeholders, often with conflicting priorities and agendas, in a clear and simplistic manner

ØResolving cross-functional disconnects and issues that arise

ØMonitoring, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of the SAM process to senior management and key stakeholders

ØIdentify continuous process redesign, improvement opportunities and projects

ØInternally align with key stakeholders to develop relationships for proactive software management

ØLead efforts to create process and work instruction documents across the software landscape for consistent and measurable output

ØAlign with internal departments (Procurement, Vendor Management, Legal, etc.) to ensure all aspects of software license and compliance management are captured and reported as required

ØInterpret software license agreements (extracting key management criteria) and evaluating the impact to the overall organization/strategic direction

ØMake recommendations to Sr. Leadership on ways to streamline and improve practices that impact SAM efforts

ØLead and assist with key SAM initiatives as defined by the Client

 

·         Roles & Responsibilities:

·         Consulting customers regarding SAM project requirements

·         Interaction with customers to troubleshoot and solve configuration issues

·         Creating SAM technical and functional documentation as per requirements

·         Supporting and training of internal SAM Technical team members and customers

·         External technical and project coordination with customers and SAM tool providers

·         preparation of license compliance reports for Tier 1 software vendors

·         Methodical Competence:

·         Strong Analytical skills

·         Strong Logical skills

·         Skills in IT business process analysis

·         Written and verbal communication skills

·         Proven researching ability

·     Functional /Technical Competence:

·         Good knowledge of Information Technology

·         Strong licensing knowledge for at least 3 – 4 Tier 1 Software vendors is a must

·         Solid understanding of IT environments and infrastructure (Infra and Networking)

·         Knowledge of CMDB’s, and Software Management tools / will be beneficial.

·         Understanding of Active Directory, User Management, working with Citrix, VM, Windows Server Administration etc. is a must.

·         Experience with other platforms such as IBM, Unix, Linux, Mac is a plus

·         Experience:(Required)

·         At least 10-12 years of proven experience in the field of SAM and IT Asset Management

·         IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools experience, preferably the top ones such as Brainware (Spider), Service Now SAM Pro, Flexera, Snow, Aspera, IBM Tivoli, HP Asset Manager

·         Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions

·         Full-Time Graduate in Computer Science / Information Technology / Equivalent diploma in IT.

·         Excellent communication skills

·         ITAM certification. Candidates with SAM Certification is (preferable)

·         Personality:
