MUST HAVES: 

  1. Embedded C/C++ / Linux experience.
  2. C/C++: Familiarity with Linux, a range of communication protocols and buses, such as Modbus, CANBUS, RS232/RS485, real time systems, API interfaces, etc. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: V Charging Infrastructure (EVCI)
The EVCI group at NIS is developing a range of electric vehicle charging station products and corresponding software tools and services to be launched in the North American market. These chargers are developed in cooperation with other Nidec teams, and will be manufactured at our location in Cleveland, OH. 

Job Description:

  1. The embedded software engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions for embedded systems, focusing on Linux-based platforms.
  2. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in C/C++ programming on Linux platforms.  
  3. In addition, the engineer should be well-versed in communication protocols such as Modbus, CAN, and RS232/485.
  4. Familiarity with electric vehicle charging systems and switch mode power supplies is highly desirable.  
  5. The role involves designing, implementing, and testing software modules, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compatibility with the target EVSE hardware.

 

Updates: The contractor embedded software engineer will be responsible for developing and deploying embedded software solutions in C++ within Linux environments. The ideal candidate should have experience in key communication protocols such as Modbus, CANbus, TCP/IP, and REST. They will demonstrate confident skills in embedded application coding, integration, testing, and deployment.  Experience developing Linux device drivers a plus.  A strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) is essential, ensuring the engineer follows best practices throughout the development process. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the contractor will gather requirements, design and implement robust software solutions, conduct thorough testing, and ensure seamless integration into embedded systems. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently will contribute to the contractor's success in this role.
